OVERLAPPING TOURNAMENTS STILL NOT RIGHT tim@wrsw.net

This is something you have heard from me before, and something you will hear from me again until it is changed or I am no longer doing a blog.

Once again this week the boys sectional finals will conflict with the 3A/4A evening session of the girls basketball state finals.

It always makes me upset but this year even more so.

The reason, two of the nation’s best teams will square off Saturday night with South Bend Washington and Indianapolis Ben Davis playing in Lucas Oil stadium.

It used to be a lot of the people who went to the state finals were girls’ teams who along with their coaching staff would travel to see what playing in the state finals could be like. But with it being boys’ sectional week, a lot of teams do not go because they would rather follow their classmates at the boys sectionals.

With it being at Lucas Oil Stadium, it could have set a record for the most fans ever for a girls high school basketball game, but instead a lot of basketball fans will have to hear about the game afterwards because they will be at one of 64 boys sectional sites.
